Phd Living In The 1890S

Greenbush Street
Lafayette, IN 47904
Rent:
$400
I am a humanities grad student writing my dissertation. I'm usually pretty social but I'll probably keep to myself to get my work done. No wild parties but the house is perfect for entertaining friends, especially for grilling outside.

Fully furnished except for your room. Bring a bed and you're good to go.

All utilities and wifi included in rent. No cable but your room is wired for it if you want it.

Gorgeous old house built in the 1890s, served as a doctor's office. Awesome landlord is a professor who restores old homes for fun. There are three doors in the apartment which lead nowhere.

2 units, we have the bottom floor. The upstairs neighbors are friends of mine.

Huge basement w/washer and dryer can be converted to a workspace if you like.

Large yard, but no pets because of the floors. Compost bin and lots of room so it's perfect for gardening.

High ceilings, hardwood floors, lots of natural light. The wood slat blinds are only 3/4 height so each window lets in light while maintaining privacy (see pictures)

2 bedroom, 1 bath. No hallways (hallways are creepy). Floor plan attached.

2 blocks from the 1A and the 2A. I rode the bus to campus all last year and loved it. Nice walk to downtown but too long to walk home after a night out. Perfect distance for biking to campus. We have a parking spot, but I just park on the street. I will have a parking pass and we might be able to work out a carpooling or sharing schedule.

Zombie warning: 3 blocks from a hospital and 1 block from a cemetery where the barbed wire faces in. Also, the basement has a separate utility room which includes a transdimentional doorway (never used) and a ceiling whose holes were plugged with corn cobs back in the day.
